If at all possible, book an entertainment venue that can accommodate guests with special needs. Some of your guests might not think to inform you that the people they are bringing require a little extra help, so it's best if your venue complies with local disability laws.

If you'll be serving alcohol at your event, consider choosing an entertainment venue with nearby transportation facilities for those who might get too tipsy to drive. If none are available, it might be a good idea to arrange for a few taxis to be available at the end of the event.

Once you've settled on an entertainment venue and signed a contract, make sure that they send or fax you a booking confirmation -- and then follow up again a week later, and then shortly before the event. You don't want human error to ruin your party.
